Rewireable plugs

Rewireable plugs are connectors that are wired during installation to transfer mains voltage to the device.

Main types:

  • Earthed plug (Schuko type):

    • One of the most common types, suitable for household appliances or industrial equipment. Earthed plugs provide a safe connection thanks to the integrated earth contact. These plugs typically have two round pins and one earth contact.
  • Non-earthed plug:

    • Non-earthed plugs usually have two pins and are used with lower power devices where earthing is not required, such as simple household items like lamps or small electrical appliances.
  • Special industrial plugs:

    • Plugs designed for industrial environments are suitable for higher loads and feature enhanced insulation. Typical examples are three-pole and high-voltage versions used for machinery or other high-current equipment.
  • Rewireable CEE plugs:

    • Industrial environments use CEE plugs and sockets developed for high-voltage systems. The CEE system is widely used in outdoor or mobile applications, such as construction sites or events, and is ideal for higher power equipment.

Rewireable sockets

Rewireable sockets are connection points that usually allow devices to be plugged in and disconnected quickly and conveniently.

Main types:

  • Earthed sockets:

    • Earthed rewireable sockets have three contacts: two live and one earth. These versions provide earthing protection for higher power devices. Earthed sockets are recommended wherever safe power supply is important, for example for extension leads.
  • Rewireable sockets with IP protection:

    • For outdoor use or industrial applications, special IP-rated sockets are available that are resistant to water, dust and other external influences. These sockets are ideal in exposed environments such as building sites or industrial locations.
